Counselling / Psychology / Mental Health

I believe everyone deserves to be the best possible version of themselves and live their desired life. Unfortunately, things can get in the way of that. Sometimes it is childhood trauma, sometimes it is situations at work or in our relationships, and other times we get in our own way, often due to fear. That is where counselling comes in. If you are reading this, I commend you for your courage to reach out. I know it can be hard to ask for help. You have made your first step. I see my role as a counsellor to facilitate the healing and changes that you, the client, wish to make. This is your journey, and I am here to help you navigate your healing journey, develop skills, and build capacity and resilience. My approach is to listen to you without judgment or preconceived ideas. I offer unconditional positive regard. Concepts that many of us have rarely experienced. I collaborate with the client to help them develop strategies and goals to move forward in their life. We will work to understand the issues concerning you and create the changes you desire. The primary therapeutic modalities I practice include an integrated psychodynamic-humanistic approach. I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered therapeutic lens augmented with other therapeutic techniques, such as solutions-focused, strengths-based, mindfulness, and transpersonal, as appropriate.

I have my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and over three years of experience in counselling, crisis intervention, and support roles. Before that, I have over 30 years of experience in corporate engineering and business. Due to my varied background and life experiences, I bring a depth of knowledge and approaches that are both comprehensive and flexible. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with CCAP and applying for my Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with BCACC.

Along these lines, she uses art therapy as an effective, creative approach for people of all ages to explore their challenges and understand better their barriers through creating a visual image. She uses art therapy in individual counselling sessions as a tool for self-exploration, communication, and healing.
